Virtual Launch Gala - UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration
World Environment Day marks the official start of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Join a worldwide celebration to reimagine, recreate and restore our relationship with nature. Tune in to the broadcast, as we kickstart these next ten, critical years together with inspiring messages from world leaders, activists, celebrities, musical performances and premieres!
The United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (UN Decade) is a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world, for the benefit of people and nature. The UN Decade concludes in 2030, coinciding with the deadline for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and is building a strong, broad-based global movement to ramp up restoration and put the world on track for a sustainable future. This includes building political momentum for restoration and supporting many thousands of on-the-ground initiatives.
As a priority, the UN Decade seeks to build the capacity of marginalized groups that stand to lose most from the continued destruction of ecosystems, such as indigenous peoples, women and youth, to take an active role in restoration. Scores of partner organizations have already come forward in support of the UN Decade.
