
Biodiversity deserves attention at the G7 Leaders' Summit in Kananaskis
Ahead of the G7 Leaders' Summit to take place on 15-17 June 2025 in Kananaskis (Alberta, Canada), Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity, contributed an article to the publication dedicated to the Summit by The Global Governance Project and the G7 Research Group: "The Kananaskis Summit 2025".
In the article titled "Urgent action is needed to safeguard biodiversity, the foundation of the global economy", the Executive Secretary of the CBD underscores the importance of the G7's leadership for the achievement of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, recognizing that socio-economic systems that generate the world’s output are embedded in nature, not external to it.
