The Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI) Forum facilitated by the Secretariat, was held online from 2 to 4 December 2020 in collaboration with the co-hosting institution, the Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin, and the Government of Germany, with financial support from the Japan Biodiversity Fund.
The three-day GTI Forum consisted of an opening symposium on, “Best practices and challenges of the GTI in achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets”, followed by two days of workshops. The workshops focused on the following themes:
- The GTI 2021-2030 activities to support Parties’ achievement of the post-2020 biodiversity targets; and
- The GTI 2021-2030 activities to enhance education, public engagement and collaboration between governments and taxonomic institutions.

Kindly note that discussions at the GTI Forum on activities and innovations relevant to strengthening technical and scientific co-operation, in support of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, will be captured in a technical document to inform discussions at the third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 3), when it meets in 2021.
